Billy Nixon, M. Ed.

Chief Executive Officer

Billy Nixon is a co-founder of Ensign Athletics and currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer. He has spent the past decade working in interscholastic and intercollegiate athletics in administrative roles. Since the fall of 2016, Billy has served as a member of the Brigham Young University football support staff. As head coach of Spanish Fork High School boy’s lacrosse team, he guided the Warriors to the 2018 Class B State Championship game. Before coming to B.Y.U., Billy spent three years as a Career Technical Education (C.T.E.) teacher and head football coach at American Leadership Academy in Spanish Fork, Utah.   

A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Billy competed in football, wrestling, and lacrosse at Hayfield Secondary School. He had the opportunity to participate in the MCLA Division I Men’s Lacrosse team at B.Y.U. and contributed to a 2011 national championship. 

While attending B.Y.U., he took a two-year sabbatical to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bangalore, India. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Experience Management from B.Y.U., a master’s degree in Education from Utah State University, and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Sport Management from Troy University. 

Billy currently resides in Payson, Utah, with his wife Chelsea, and their three children: Evelyn, William, and Hazel.
